About me

I currently live and work in Switzerland, where I teach English as an Additional Language (EAL) and English Literature to Grades 6 to 9 at Inter-Community School in Zurich. Prior to this, I was in Hong Kong where I was the Coordinator of English For Academic Purposes (EAP) for K-12 at Harrow International School. I was also the Co-Head of EAP at PTIS International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand between 2009 and 2012. I am passionate about the teaching and learning of languages and I have extensive experience teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) and EAP. I am originally from Canada, however I have enjoyed teaching around the globe.

I completed a Master’s of Education in Curriculum Studies with a specialisation in English as a Second Language in the spring of 2013. Over the past few years, I have completed the IBO’s Introduction to the PYP workshop, as well as an MYP workshop on Interdisciplinary Planning. I have, twice, presented ESL Job-Alike workshops at the Chiang Mai International Schools’ joint teachers’ conference. Additionally, I have earned a TESOL Diploma. My exceptional energy levels and effective organisational skills have enabled me to balance all of these varied endeavours.

With my family – Sean, Kai & Siarra

For the past fourteen years I have worked in international schools and, along with my family, have been actively involved in school life beyond the classroom. Coaching, supervising, leading expeditions, weekend excursions and ski trips, movie nights and school socials are just a few of the activities that I have had the pleasure of taking part in. I have enjoyed the privilege of living with and learning from students representing many countries and cultures, and speaking a variety of languages.

I look forward to joining a school community where a spirit of collegiality is evident, with teachers working together to provide an optimal learning environment for all students.
